Welcome to inkbit.com. This is my personal web site for all to see. I created it to showcase my life and work online. After years of building sites for other clients, I decided to turn the tables and create my own web site. I found out after many versions that I’m really my toughest critic. Design is always a subjective art that takes passion and focus to obtain your desired final work. I also believe, after working on countless projects, that it can always be modified and improved. Like inkbit.com, I’m passionate about making clean functional designs that emphasize the clients’ product for the intended target audience. I feel my goal is to translate the clients’ vision for all to see.
.: A (ink)bit about me.
Born in Long Beach, California, I have lived throughout Orange County for many years. I have also lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Aspen, Colorado. I currently live in Newport Beach. I have a 18-year-old son named Julian and a dog named Kimba. I’ve been a single, full-time father for 15 years. It has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. I also have been blessed with the best family and friends. I have been fortunate enough to have both my parents around who’ve been happily married for 45 years. I also have a younger brother whom I consider my best friend. I also have a really wonderful girlfriend, Jay. She’s been amazing and brings out the best in me.
I really enjoy the outdoors and keep active as much as possible. My hobbies include hiking with my dog and riding my bike to the beach. I prefer the sun, but also enjoy the snow, which is why California has been my home for so long. There aren’t too many places where you can go ride your surfboard in the morning and snowboard in the afternoon. I like to hit the snow as much as possible, which speaks to the Aspen in me. Besides being outdoors, I really like to share my time with my family and friends. My mom is an incredible chef and gave me the inspiration to duplicate some of her best dishes. I love to cook and have a broad taste in food. That’s an overview about me.
.: What I do.
I grew up watching my father work as a Graphic Designer / Artist. Our family owned a silk screen business called “Fadden Designs” for many years. My father was always drawing and using his creativity to design. I used to help him in the shop every day after school and during summer. I would spend hours drawing and trying to copy what he did. This inspiration later turned into a love and passion of art design. I decided early on to follow in my father’s foot steps.
Before attending college, I worked for a few sign companies and completed freelance work for the action sports industry. During college, the internet was just beginning to grow. I found a job working at a small internet Cafe called Megabyte in Long Beach. It was at that point that I realized that my skills would translate to website design. I did everything to understand the new emerging electronic printing press. It was a field I knew would grow in time. After graduation, I successfully secured a job at a small web design company called Web Magic in Pasadena. I worked as the head designer and HTML programmer, tasked to design and build the site Pets.com. I led a team to finish the site and launched it in 1999. It was one of the first major commerce sites of its kind to be later sold to PetSmart.
My experience at Web Magic brought me to another agency in Marina Del Rey called Jamison & Gold. At the time, they had several large accounts like Sony, Energizer, Midway and Namco. I worked as a Sr. Web Designer on several interactive projects. After the dot-com collapse, I began working for Downey Savings and Loan at a time when banks were safe and growing. I provided my experience developing several major web applications and front facing sites. I left in 2009, after the economic collapse of Wall Street and FDIC take over.
My next job began at Brilliant Blue, a small interactive agency in Laguna Beach. I assumed the position of Interactive Director and managed a team of developers. The clients ranged from heath care, food, finance, nonprofit, real estate, insurance and other vertical markets. After one year, I began working at DevicePharm. This agency specialized in medical companies with a wide portfolio of interactive and print media. I provided my experience in updating every aspect of their web development process. I bought them up to date with hosting, development, maintenance and quality control in about a year’s time.
Currently, I have been with Goldencomm for nearly four years. We specialize in .Net and PHP sites. Most of the clients are either on a CMS or e-Commerce platform. We host, design, develop, manage and market for over 400 clients. This has given me a large range of clients and platforms to work with. I have worked as a developer, designer, project manager and customer support agent. I have led the Customer Support Team for over two years. During my time at Goldencomm, I’ve worked with systems such as WordPress, Magento, Kentico, ASPDotNetStoreFront and other custom platforms.
Most recently, I started a custom hat company called Bomb Hats with my family. We have a booth in Huntington Beach, on Main Street and by the pier, selling custom hats. You can follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. We create and sell original designs. Each hat is one-of-a-kind, specific to the customer. Customers also have the option of creating a hat based on their own design. They can select a hat and upload their images to our website. I find great fulfillment in seeing customers’ excitement and satisfied smiles upon receiving their hats.
I want to leverage my skills and produce work that is inspiring. Thank you for visiting my web site. Please contact me with any questions that you may have. I look forward to hearing from you.
